How to Use a Hair Mask Correctly: Avoid Build-Up and Keep Hair Moisturised

Hair masks are an excellent way to nourish your hair, but incorrect use can lead to product build-up and greasy hair. Here’s the right way to use a hair mask for optimal moisture without heaviness.

Step 1: Start with Clean, Damp Hair

Always apply your hair mask to clean, freshly washed hair. This ensures there’s no dirt or oil blocking the mask from penetrating the strands. After washing, gently towel dry your hair until it’s damp but not soaking.

Step 2: Apply & Distribute Evenly

Apply a generous amount of mask to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair, avoiding the roots.

Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to distribute the mask evenly throughout your hair. This ensures all strands get treated without overloading certain areas.

Step 4: Let It Sit for the Right Amount of Time

Most masks should be left on for 5 -20 minutes. While waiting, turn your hair care routine into a relaxing self-care ritual. Light a candle, grab a good book, enjoy a cup of tea, or take the opportunity to exfoliate your body with our creamy coffee body scrub. Turn your hair care routine into a moment of self-care, giving yourself a mini spa experience.

Step 5: Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse your hair thoroughly with cool or lukewarm water to remove all traces of the mask. Leftover product can cause build-up, making your hair look greasy and dull.

Step 6: Use a Leave-In Product (Optional)

For extra moisture, follow up with a lightweight leave-in conditioner or serum, especially if your hair is prone to dryness or frizz.

How Often Should You Use a Hair Mask?

Our hair mask is designed to replace your regular conditioner, offering deeper repair and hydration with every wash. This means you can safely use it during each wash, making it perfect for those who want continuous hydration and nourishment without the need for a separate conditioner.
